Welcome

It is my belief that the most important part of the counseling process is choosing the right

therapist! I provide all clients with the opportunity to decide to stay with me after our initial intake. This allows for there to be a comfortable and safe approach with no added pressures. I invite all who are seeking services to give me an opportunity to guide them and learn from all our own experiences in life. Counseling is the beginning of any journey and I welcome you to allow me to be a part of it.

How I work

I utilize a strength-based and an integrative approach exploring the various areas of a person’s

life to include emotional, physical, and social strengths. I also incorporate a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach which allows for an individual to be aware of one’s own thoughts and how it influences a behavior. I also have experience with Cognitive Processing Therapy which is utilized for individuals struggling with post-traumatic stress. The other modalities that I utilize include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Emotionally-Focused that can be effective to all age groups. We will work in different areas to include: distress tolerance, interpersonal relationships, mindfulness, and emotional regulation. I believe that remaining present in the moment allows for there to be a space for growth and introspection.

Therapist spotlight

What made you decide to become a counselor?

I decided to become a counselor after learning how to manage my own mental health and wanting to help others along the journey of life.

If you could teach the world one skill or technique to improve their lives, what would it be?

I would teach one the skill of patience. Patience is a virtue and I believe it has been difficult to obtain in a fast-paced world. However, with patience, comes an opportunity to grow.

If you could recommend one book to all your clients, what would it be?

I would recommend “Who Moved My Cheese” as we are all coping with changes everyday of our lives.

How do you personally practice self-care?

I enjoy spending time with my three dogs and husband, going out on hikes and going on road-trips!

Have you personally been in counseling and if so, what did you learn about yourself?

As my clinical supervisor would say, “Every helping person needs another.” I sought out to learn more about myself and the experience was life-changing.

What inspires you to help others?

I receive all my inspiration from the individuals I serve. I feel blessed to be allowed to enter people's intimate lives and provide guidance and support.

Who is your ideal client?

I do not believe there is such a thing as an ideal client. We are all imperfectly perfect beings. A client who is willing and ready to make a difference in their life is what matters most.

How do you relate to Mindfulness? How do you incorporate it in your sessions?

I provide my clients with an opportunity to practice a grounding technique before and after our sessions to ease any emotion and allow for there to be a focus on our time together.

If you are hosting a dinner party, who are the 3 people you would invite and why?

I could not just invite 3 but I would like to host a party and learn from the greatest minds of the 20th century and learn just how far we have come within our society.
