Professional profile

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor with a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston Clear Lake and a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Texas State University. My experience includes community mental health, outpatient group therapy, and residential substance use treatment.

I've worked with people navigating anxiety, mood disorders, psychosis, substance use, trauma, and relationship difficulties. My background also includes trauma-informed, attachment-based equine-assisted therapy.

My approach is integrative and tailored to each person. I incorporate CBT, DBT skills, ACT principles, mindfulness, and self-compassion to help you better understand yourself and navigate life's challenges. Together, we'll explore patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors with curiosity rather than judgment. We'll identify what's working, build on your strengths, and find practical ways to manage difficult emotions and move toward what matters most to you.

Welcome

Hi, I'm Brynna. I think therapy can be a place to get curious about yourself, make sense of patterns you've found yourself repeating, and understand why certain things feel harder than they should. Sometimes we develop ways of thinking and responding that once served us but no longer fit where we are in life. Together, we can explore what you want to hold on to and what you're ready to change.

How I work

Sessions with me start with getting to know you as a person. I take a holistic approach, considering how your relationships, work, daily habits, and overall well-being shape your experience. I'm curious about what you're going through, what matters to you, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. Together, we'll identify goals that feel meaningful and align with your values. From there, we'll work toward those goals at your pace, using practical tools and strategies along the way.

Therapist spotlight

If you could teach the world one skill or technique to improve their lives, what would it be?

Getting curious rather than judgmental, both with ourselves and others. Instead of criticizing ourselves for how we feel or react, we can take a moment to understand why. The same goes for other people. A little curiosity can help us understand each other better and figure out how we want to move forward.

How do you personally practice self-care?

Yoga is a regular part of my life and one of my favorite ways to get out of my head and reconnect with myself. I love spending time outdoors, whether that's hiking, taking my dog for a walk, watching a sunset, or relaxing in a hammock. When I'm winding down, you'll often find me reading historical fiction, especially Philippa Gregory's books about the Tudor era, or revisiting my love of all things vampires. I also cherish slow mornings, a good bedtime routine, spending time with friends and family, and occasionally revisiting World of Warcraft for a little nostalgia.

Who is your ideal client?

I work with adults who feel stuck or overwhelmed, whether they're navigating a major life change or finding that familiar struggles with anxiety, depression, or self-doubt are becoming harder to manage. Sometimes, a lot has changed at once, like moving to a new city, going through a breakup, or starting a new job. Other times, the stress of daily life brings old patterns back to the surface. You might find yourself overthinking, struggling to set boundaries, or feeling burned out from trying to keep up with everyone's expectations.

Some people come to therapy knowing exactly what they want to work on, while others just know something doesn't feel right and aren't sure how to put it into words. Many are hard on themselves for struggling or feel they should be able to handle things on their own. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves, develop new ways of coping, build confidence, and find a way forward that feels more balanced.
